Desert Shores Community Association
Landscaping Project
Beginning in October, 2003, the DSCA formed the Desert Shores Landscaping Committee, a dedicated group of volunteer homeowners. The charge of the committee was to develop a long-term water-efficient landscaping plan for the master association. This was necessary to preserve property values and to update the community’s landscaping in view of a record drought, higher water rates, repetitive water damage caused by existing landscaping, and a general need to upgrade the community’s look into a unified whole suited to our desert location. At the same time, the Committee was dedicated to preserving the community’s uniqueness and its signature lakeside environment.
On April 28, 2004, the Board approved proceeding with the project in three phases. Plans tentatively call for breaking ground in the first phase in August, 2004. Construction for all phases would be completed in eighteen months, or sooner if practicable. Please note that many decisions have yet to be made, including the precise plants to be used and the installed level of plant maturity in key areas. Please review the plans and diagrams presented on this site, and

with any feedback you believe is helpful or needed. We will immediately forward your comments to the committee for their consideration.
Note that all of the public streets and intersections in the master community will be affected. The green belts around the lakes and the park area adjacent to the community center will remain grass. Each subassociation will continue to be responsible for planning landscaping changes on the land that it owns, and we ask each subassociation to continue to coordinate its plans through the DSCA as set forth in the Master Association CC&Rs.
We believe that this comprehensive homeowner effort is unique for a community our size, and we’re excited about results. Take a look at what’s happening!
